A woman living alone in her house in Rudraprayag was reportedly burnt to death on Saturday. Postmortem report revealed that she had sustained up to 90 per cent burn injuries. Police sources said thatJaiti village residents saw smoke coming out of the house of 50-year-old Vimla Thapliyal on Saturday.
After reaching the spot, residents witnessed that the lock of the home had been broken with smoke billowing out of the home. Entering the house, they saw a body being covered with bedsheets emitting smoke. They found Vimla severely burnt and dead. Reaching the spot on being informed, police sent the body for postmortem. According to local residents, the lady was living alone in her house. Her son has been working as a priest in Rishikesh. Virendra’s wife had gone to her father’s home on August 23 on the occasion of Janmashtami. No arrest has been made so far.
Team has been formed after lodging an FIR under Sections 302/486 of IPC against unidentified persons in Rudraprayag police station on Sunday.
