When the district administration has failed to rise to the occasion with the Kanwadias making a mockery of the Clean India Campaign, a woman seer on her part- taking up the cause with a missionary zeal- is appealing to them not to litter the ashrams and their surroundings. Those who are seeing the saffron-robed seer in her new role, wandering about the Bhupatwala area and talking to the pilgrims individually to keep things clean in the holy city, are calling her a one-woman army. When those who are supposed to champion the cause are found sleeping the woman seer is showing her commitment to the cause of cleanliness, they say. Knowing where it strikes, she is invoking the name of lord Shiva while alluding to the three principles the lord personifies- ‘Satyam, Shivam, Sundaram’.
In an appeal to all the founders and the managers of the maths spread over the holy city, Swami Mukta Bharti has written that the responsibility of the ashrams does not end just by giving shelter and food to the Kanwad pilgrims but also to contribute to the protection of the sanctity of such places that exemplify the dharma and culture of the ancient land.
“When Shiva is ‘Sundaram’ (beauty personified) why those who are taking such pains in His name should litter the holy cityIJ Why are harbingers of Bharat Swacchta Abhiyan silent over this unhealthy part of Kanwad which is on these daysIJ Shiva is the Truth that symbolizes purity, cleanliness and beauty. One should desist from incurring the wrath of lord Shiva ( His Rudra form) which would lead to the destruction of mankind,” said Mukta Bharti while approaching the Kanwad pilgrims individually.
While speaking to The Pioneer, Mukta Bharti said that she had been pained by the pathetic state of the holy city. “This is what has charged me to approach the Kanwadias to stress on cleanliness. I may not be able to reach all of them. But even if some are convinced I would feel that my mission is achieved," she added
