A pilgrim of the first batch of the Kailash Mansarovar pilgrimage has died on way back home from this ‘yatra’. The first batch of the pilgrimage after having visited the Kailash Mansarovar is expected to reach Pithoragarh back on July 2, officials said. There are about 58 devotees including 11 women in this batch.

Officials of KMVN, Kathgodam, said the deceased pilgrim has been identified as Meena Gupta, about 54 years old, a resident of Delhi. Though investigation is on to find out the exact reason behind death, preliminary investigations suggested that she might died due to her ill health, said officials and added that the body would probably reach Haldwani by Monday. Meanwhile, the fifth batch of this pilgrimage has reached Almora on Sunday evening starting its journey from Delhi on the same Sunday morning. There are 43 devotees including eight female devotees and the same batch of the pilgrims reached Kathgodam around 2 on Sunday afternoon.

Though there are certain signs of improvement in the weather conditions, the fourth batch of the pilgrims could not start its journey for the next destination of the pilgrimage, Sirkha from Dharchual base camp on Friday. However, the pilgrims resumed their journey from Dharchula on Saturday to reach Gala, which is one stop ahead of Sirkha.
