A 34-year-old woman, Puja, wife of petrol pump owner Saurabh Singh and native of Jaunpur (Uttar Pradesh) Bihar, committed suicide by hanging herself from a noose tied to the ceiling fan in her rented accommodation in Vasant Vihar area on Monday morning. Police rushed to the spot after being informed around 6 am. Police recovered a suicide note which is being verified by police. The body was sent for postmortem.
Her brother Nitin Raghuvanshi, native of Shahjahanpur, had registered a complaint, alleging that her husband and in-laws had provoked her to end her life. Subsequently, a case under Section 306 of IPC was registered against her husband in Vasant Vihar Police Station.
She had been living in Dehradun to look after the education of her three children who are studying in public schools in Dehradun.
Her Husband used to occasionally visit Dehradun to meet the family members, said police.
