Manoj said that he got in touch with her after he responded to a missed call he had received from her about a fortnight ago. He then met her at a restaurant near Rajiv Chowk, Delhi. Telling her that he was going to Mussoorie on February 17, he proposed that she could accompany him on the trip if she wished.
However, Mamta agreed to accompany him if he visited Mussoorie on February 18. Manoj said that she reached Meerut from where the duo drove to Dehradun in a car and stayed at his farm house in the Premnagar area. later on Friday morning the businessman claimed to have realised that he had been abducted by some persons who had covered his head.
He had also been rendered unconscious by a drug injected into him by the abductors.
He was beaten by his kidnappers when he tried to uncover his head. Manoj further said that he had remained unaware of the places in western UP where the kidnappers had taken him. They threatened his life more than once which made the abductee fear that he would end up being murdered by them. He expressed a wish to present Rs one lakh in reward to the police but the personnel declined the offer.
