Infighting within the Congress resurfaced before Congress-in-charge Choudhary Birender Singh on Thursday when a lady known as Savita Thapa created ruckus and alleged that party leaders are violating the instruction of AICC Vice President Rahul Gandhi, who had categorically said that only such workers who have served the party for more than five years, will be considered for ticket by the party. This particular incident has given enough hint that coming days would be crucial for the congress, which is busy in distribution of ticket, and their leader because later they will have to deal with dissidence as well.
Savita Thapa alleged that she has been working in Congress sewa dal for the last 25 years but she is not being considered for ward no 18 in Sahastradhara road. Taking cognizance on her plea Choudhary asked what is the status of the seat then she said the seat belongs to General category then he outrightly refused to consider her name for the ward. He made it clear that as per the party policy no women candidate will be considered on general category seat because party has already reserved seat for women.
Thereafter she lost her temper and reminded about the AICC vice President Rahul Gandhi statement. In which Rahul had told about the leader who shifts loyalty during election to get party ticket will have to work for the party for at least five years then party would consider their name for next election. She alleged that party is not considering her name because she could not afford it. Going further she threatened that she would commit suicide if party denies her candidature because she has given her 25 years to congress as a worker of congress sewa dal.
Seeing this commotion media person, which were invited for Choudhary Birender Singh Press interaction, gave full attention to the outburst congress worker Savita Thapa. Realising situation getting out of control, a city congress leader Anjana Walia rushed towards Thapa and forcefully took her away from media.
