A woman in Indiranagar area has lodged a police complaint accusing her husband of giving her triple talaq. Kamarunissa had alleged in the police complaint that her husband and in-laws were harassing her for dowry and that her husband uttered talaq thrice to divorce her at a time when she is five months pregnant.
Earlier, she attempted to commit suicide on the railway track but her neighbours noticed her and brought her to the police station.
She told the police that she had been married to Saddam about six months ago. Her family had given Rs one lakh to the groom’s family but soon after marriage, her husband and in-laws started taunting her for getting less dowry, she alleged. On the night of August 21, her in-laws questioned her as to why she had not yet arranged for a motorcycle. The father in-law then allegedly told his son to divorce her, adding that they would get him remarried.
Kamarunissa has alleged that her husband uttered talaq thrice and divorced her. According to the police, based on the complaint, a case has been booked against the husband and in-laws under sections pertaining to dowry harassment, domestic violence and triple talaq.
