Making it clear that they would not leave Speaker Govind Singh Kunjwal to get away with the alleged favouritism shown by him regarding the Speaker’s Discretionary Fund, the state BJP general secretary Naresh Bansal said on Wednesday that they would take up the matter with the Election Commission soon. He reiterated his party’s stance that the Speaker had indulged in a blatant kind of favouritism by distributing a lion’s share of the Speaker’s Discretionary Fund among those residing in his Assembly constituency Jageshwar. He said that as per the information provided by RTI, around 33,000 out of 35,251 beneficiaries were from Jageshwar.
Taking a jibe at the Speaker’s assertion that he would help build Uttarkhanad in tune with the dream dreamt by the statehood activists, he said that in reality he has let the state and its people down while pandering to his petty ambition of returning from the constituency. He added that the State expects him to step down.
Note worthy, the Government has made provision of discretionary fund for the Speaker to enable him to execute works without depending upon the ministers.
