Will prove majority on floor: Ex-CM

Published on:

Welcoming the High Court's ruling, former Chief Minister Harish Rawat said on Tuesday that it had vindicated his stance. "I have been demanding all the time that I should be given an opportunity to prove majority on the floor of the Assembly. Even the Governor's stance was the same. However, the BJP thought otherwise and they hurriedly imposed President's Rule, trashing the norms enshrined in the Constitution, to spite me and my Government," he said.

He averred again that he would prove on March 31 that the majority of the MlAs are with him. "I would carry on with the development agenda once we get back to the Government," he said. However, he declined to comment on the technicalities involved   in the High Court ruling.

Saying that he has been fighting for the cause of the Constitution, the former CM said that he was not against any individual. "We are happy that the High Court has re-instated democracy and restored the sanctity of the Constitution," he said, adding that the BJP would bite the dust in the election whenever it is held for murdering democracy.
