The episode of Ruby Choudhary managing to stay put in the India’s premier institute lBS National Academy of Administrative premises and procuring under -trainee uniform during the President Pranab Mukherjee visit in 2014 has severely dented the image of lBSNAA. Interestingly, as per the accused, she had done all this with assistance from lBSNAA Deputy Director Saurabh Jain, who allegedly facilitated her in lieu of money. Sources said that if investigation goes in the right direction several other names still would roll out in the coming days.
However, there is doubt whether the probe would go that length, given the police here being known as friendly one. The signs are ominous with Dehradun SP Ajay Kumar keeping an eagle eye on Ruby. The role of ITBP, which is accountable for keeping guard on the academy, is under cloud too. She had stayed in the secluded premises for over six months, giving them a slip. Ruby alleged Saurabh Jain had promised her the librarian’s job for a hefty sum. The Pioneer investigation found that IAS Jain has been always been under critical glare of the Government for raising controversies, one after the other. He had landed the Uttarakhand Government in utter embarrassment over his alleged dubious role in hydro power scam. His parent cadre i.e. Kerala had him relieved in 2010. But Uttarakhand failed to follow suit. Which is why he managed to procure the coveted post of deputy director in lBS academy.
Interestingly, Jain belongs to 2002 batch IAS cadre and had passed from the same academy. On condition of anonymity, an IAS said that the posting here being a dry one in terms of money, he might have asked Ruby to shell out a large sum for a post in the academy. “He has no scruples and can go to any length to conjure up money from the unexpected sources,” the IAS said. He also said a racket might be operating there to produce IAS officers through unscrupulous means.
