'Will approach disgruntled villagers to get 80% turnout'

Replying to a question as to how the election commission would motivate the villagers intent on boycotting election citing lack of development in their villages, State electoral officer Radha Raturi said that district magistrates have been directed to identity such villages where such boycotts happened in the past  and take measures to bring the disgruntled villagers on board. She said that at some places around 60 people had boycotted election on the above ground while at others it was 10 people. “To achieve 80 per cent voting, we would reach out to them while addressing their grievances,” she said, adding that special arrangements would be made for physically handicapped people to enable them to cast votes.
