WIHG scientist and course coordinator Dr TN Jowhar spoke of the Winter School and its importance towards improvement of scientific study related to earth system science.
Chief guest Professor Mrinal K Sen talked about basics of forward and inverse modeling and its application in earth and allied sciences.
He illustrated the basic mathematical formulation of forward as well as inverse processes with examples of geophysical data.
He talked about the classification of inverse problem and different optimisation methods with practical examples using geophysical data.
Sen also introduced geophysical inversion methods, uncertainty estimations and non-uniqueness of the inversion results with practical examples using geophysical data.
