In case of the suspicious death of a former army person, Kotdwar police has arrested wife of the deceased and a man with whom she is allegedly having an affair.
According to the information provided by local police, local hospital informed them that a 42-year-old man, Ram Singh, was brought dead on September 29. Upon reaching the hospital, they got to know that his wife, Bhuma Devi, brought his body to the hospital. During the preliminary investigation, Singh’s wife told the police that her husband was drunk and fell over from the stairs, but the body had several injury marks because of which the case raised suspicion. During the investigation, when the police started questioning the people in the colony where the deceased and his wife used to live, it was found that the wife Bhuma Devi was having an affair with her neighbour Santosh Chaudhary.
On Monday, the mother of the deceased man filed a complaint expressing suspicion on her daughter in-law.
When the suspect Bhuma Devi was interrogated, she confessed to the crime and said that her husband got to know about the affair, because of which they used to have a fight on daily basis.
She and the accused Santosh together planned the murder. When Singh came home in drunken state, they pushed him from the stairs, after which to make sure that he was dead, they then started hitting him with a brick.
Police have recovered the brick used to assault him on the information provided by the accused. Chaudhary has also been arrested by the police.
