World Integrity Center (WIC)   India, Dehradun, hosted the popular children's writer Ranjit lal on September 3 who came to release his latest book 'Our Nana was a Nutcase'.

The moderator for the event was Preeti Singh Rathore, principal of Vantage Hall Girls' Residential School. Students from different schools like Tula's International, Vantage Hall Girls, Ecole Global were present during the event.

Recounting the events that had shaped his book 'Our Nana was a Nutcase', he said the story is partly based on his father's battle with dementia.

“If a family has a member who suffers from dementia it is important that the children in the family learn to deal with it,” he said.

Sounding nostalgic, he spoke about his childhood spent near a beach in Madras and also about his education.  “I   longed to be an automobile engineer.  At the same time, I was interested in writing too,” he said.

An interactive session followed wherein those from the audience, mostly students, asked him questions about his new book. Role of shabby aunty and some chapters from the book were discussed.

Some of his books include The Crow Chronicles, The life and Times of Aaltu Faltu, That Summer at Kalagarh, Enjoying Birds, Birds from My Window, The Caterpillar Who Went on a Diet and Other Stories.

He revealed things about a book which is based on the street dogs.

“"Each should have the passion and interest to do something. This passion leads us on to success.  life devoid of passion proves one bereft of colour,’ he said.
