Drawing a parallel between Uttarakhand and Goa, his native state, the defence minister Manohar Parrikar said that both the states had to bear the brunt of mining scams. “We faced it in Goa and the scams happened at the behest of the then state government. The same is happening here in Uttarakhand now,” he said.
Drawing another parallel between the two states, he said both were dependent heavily on tourism. “While things are now thriving in Goa the state government here in Uttarakhand has failed to tap its full potential,” he said.
In another analogy, he dwelt on the electorate of both the states not giving decisive mandate to any party in successive elections since the inception of the states. “However, it is imperative now that the people give us a clear-cut mandate to help BJP form the next government ousting the present corruption-steeped one being led by Congress,” he said.
