Where are the teachers, BJP asks Government

Published on:

During Zero Hour, BJP MlA Surendra Singh Jeena raised a question about schools sans teachers especially in the hilly areas. When another BJP MlA Chandan Ram Das sought time to express his grievance on the same matter the Speaker said the matter had already been taken up for discussion. Das insisted he must be allowed to speak as the problem varies from constituency to constituency.

He alleged 128 Principals had been promoted and transferred. However, things for the schools reeling from the crunch of teachers have compounded. The irony of the story was that his Assembly constituency was located in an area known as sugam/accessible. This was the reason why the Government was reluctant to send teachers to the schools there.

The constituency Jeena represents is on the other hand is inaccessible. The Government is shoving teachers there. However, they are in no mood to heed the Government’s strictures. This is the queerness of things now facing the state on the matter of education, he said. The house erupted in laughter.  Education Minister Naithani said the Government was recruiting Shiksha Mitra and Acharya to address the issue.

Joining the bandwagon, BJP MlA Puran Singh Fartyal said the Government having upgraded 300 high schools, including 12 schools under his Assembly constituency, has proved a bane instead of a boon for the students and their parents. These upgraded institutions have no teachers. The public representatives are earning ire of the people. They said the previous state of things was better. The students had to trudge a long way for studies. There were teachers to cater to them. But now with the schools in the proximity the students have no teacher to teach them. later Naithani assured he would ensure that these schools would have teachers.
