The valedictory function of the week-long celebrations of Vigilance Awareness Week organised by the ONGC limited was held here on Monday with the Intelligence Bureau deputy director Shachi Ghildiyal as the chief guest.
Delivering the keynote address on the occasion, Ghildyal said that the root cause of corruption can only be eradicated when we stop finding faults in others and look at our own way of working. She said, “We should stop any wrong working that we are doing in our day to day life. Corruption is caused when we try to take short-cuts for our own self. The bottom-line is that we indulge in corrupt practices in our day to day life for our own benefits. If we have to stop corruption, we should all work hand-in- hand to eradicate the very root cause and work with transparency and follow procedures. The theme of VAW 2017, ‘ My Vision-Corruption Free India’ is very appropriate as participation of each and every one is needed for the success of a programme or an event and to eradicate corruption from society we need assistance and participation of all.”
Earlier in his welcome address ONGC corporate vigilance head RP Patel spoke on the importance of the Vigilance Awareness Week. ONGC, he said has always been ahead for maintaining transparency and CVC in his inaugural address of Vigilance Awareness Week at Delhi applauded the Vigilance Department of ONGC for enabling transparency in all its work centres and its solid support to CVC. Further re-iterating he said that CVC appreciated the quality of vigilance investigation done under CVO, AK Ambasht. “The objective of the VAW is to cajole young minds to be vigilant and be aware of their surroundings. We need to lead from the front to maintain integrity and honesty,” said Patel.
The winners of poster, debate, essay and slogan competitions held during the week were given prizes by the chief guest and the dignitaries in the valedictory function.
