Following the inclement weather, the vehicular flow of traffic has been disrupted along the Char Dham Yatra route. Sources confirmed that out of four Char Dhams, two have been facing disruptions, in the traffic flow in the higher parts of the State.

Due to the incessant rain in the higher hills of Garhwal region for the last couple of days, the yatra has become risky for the pilgrims. Although the district administration has claimed that the National Highway has been cleared for traffic but the situation is still not under control despite the claims from the administration.

Rain continues to play havoc in Uttarakhand. The Char Dham Yatra was yet again disrupted due to landslides on Kedarnath and Badrinath Road and the roads leading to the Gangotri and Yamunotri shrines.

The rain that started overnight continued the whole day leading to several cases of mudslides along the Char Dham Yatra route. On Rishikesh- Badrinath National Highway, Sirobagarh near Dhari has become a rather critical spot where big and small boulders continue to roll down thus blocking the flow of traffic on the route.

It is to be noted, that Sirobagarh is the spot where maximum number of landslides have occurred, but the district administration failed to fix the problem. Even though the department concerned claimed that these roads will be open in a span of two days but more concrete steps are yet to be taken by the administration for continuous flow of traffic on Char Dham Yatra route.

Well established sources revealed that Tilawara — Mayali — Guptakashi motor road is open for the vehicular flow of traffic. Besides, Rishikesh — Kedarnath National Highway (NH 109) is reported to be blocked for the vehicular flow of traffic at Fatta whereas Rishikesh - Gangotri National Highway (NH 108) is open for light vehicles.

The Rishikesh-Yamunotri National Highway (NH 94) is open for light vehicles and the plying of heavy four wheelers is restricted for couple of days in the higher parts of the State.

Due to the inclement weather that has been witnessed in the last couple of days, the Rishikesh - Badrinath National Highway (NH 58) is reported to be blocked for the vehicular flow of traffic including light four wheelers at Patalganga along the Char Dham Yatra route.

One of the department sources who wished anonymity told The Pioneer that extra workforce has been used for ensuring the smooth flow of vehicular flow of traffic along the Char Dham Yatra route but the incessant rains have been hampering the department efforts for clearing the blocked roads and routes.
