War of words over Bagheshwar Dalit's death

The recent death of Sohan Ram, a member of the Dalit community in Bageshwar has perpetuated the cycle of allegations, defence and counter allegations between the leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party and Congress in Uttarakhand.

In a statement released to the media on Sunday, BJP national executive member Satpal Maharaj strongly condemned the murder of Sohan Ram in Bageshwar.

He further alleged that the Congress-led State Government had failed to ensure the safety of public especially when it comes of members of the Dalit community.

The former central minister went on to state that following the murder of Sohan Ram, the congress-led State Government under Harish Rawat “doesn’t have the right to remain in office and should tender its resignation without any further delay”, said the BJP leader who himself was a prominent Congress leader before leaving the party to join the BJP a couple of years ago.

Stating that corruption had reached its peak during the tenure of the Congress Government, he further opined that the public will vote the Congress out of office in the coming Vidhan Sabha elections as it has had enough of the sufferings caused by exacerbation of corruption in the state under the Congress.
