Replying to the number of calls that have been received to Dehradun Ex-Services league (DESl) official bearers asking as to whom they should vote, it is therefore clarified that all should vote for a good candidate.
They also cleared that DESl is apolitical organisation and do not put up any candidate for elections but being a welfare association requests all its members to cast vote to those candidates who are competent and promised to work for the welfare of the people, especially ex-servicemen by raising their welfare points.
The DESl chairman, Brig (Retd) KG Behl urged the voters to see that the candidates should not have any criminal record and should have worked in the area for the welfare of the people, with a clean image. It may be mentioned here that some candidates try to influence the voters by offering undue advantages or by pressurising with muscle power. Voters are requested not to succumb to such tactics and report to the authorities concerned, if someone is found resorting to such methods.
“We should vote purely on the good qualities of the candidates irrespective any group they belong,” he said, adding that since it is a secret ballot we are not supposed to disclose to anyone to whom one voted.
