Panic spread among the residents of Dron Colony located on Shastradhara Road on Saturday morning when suddenly raised voltage damaged electrical equipments in about fifty households.
The residents alleged that the incident occurred due to the negligence on the part of the local lineman. The agitated residents said that there was no one to hear out their grievances when they went to the power department office after the incident happened.
The colony residents vented anger on the lineman of the area by encircling him when the latter was fixing a fault. later, the executive engineer of UPCl assured the residents that their complaints would be looked into.
A resident of the colony, Kuldeep Shahdev said a problem of phase was being reported from quite some time. “We informed the officials of the department. But they were
sitting on it,” he said. He further said that on Saturday morning a sudden rise in the voltage had damaged equipments worth 20 lakhs in the colony.
The residents of the colony are demanding the power department to compensate their losses.
