Visitors to get 'burning ghat relief' from scorching heat

The State Urban Development Minister Madan Kaushik inaugurated an air-conditioned hall in the premises of Raj Ghat, the crematorium, at Kankahal on Friday. It is learnt that a youth from Punjab Amar Kumar had it built to provide the visitors to the burning ghat relief from the scorching heat during the summer.

Speaking on the occasion, Kaushik said, “Death being inevitable for one who lives, everybody desires that his or her last rites are performed on the banks of the sacred Ganga. “In deference to such wishes, their near and dear ones bring them to Haridwar after they die from far-off places for the cremation and post-death rituals. It is thus an act of ‘punya’ to provide some comfort to the grieving relatives of the deceased,” the Minister said while lauding the initiative taken by a youth.
