Villages near Indo-China border still without power

Published on:

Some villages located in the remote Indo-China border are still reeling under darkness as the administration has failed to restore the power supply disrupted during the disaster in June last year.

Irked over the official neglect the villagers of Galati, Khet, Jaikot, Pangla and Ramtoli gathered under the banner of Communist Party of India -Marxist leninist (CPI-Ml) and protested at the Tehsil here on Wednesday. The activists of CPI- Ml and disaster affected villagers took out a protest march in the town under leadership of Party block secretary KS Kunwar and shouted slogans against local MlA and administration in front of SDM office.

Addressing the protesters Kunwar said that even eight months after the disaster the villagers are waiting for resumption of power supply. The official  neglect can be gauged from the fact that the orders passed by the District  Magistrate in July 2013 have not reached the office of Sub Divisional Officer (SDO) concerned here.

Kunwar said that his party would continue to pressurise the Government, local MlA and administration and would ensure that the power supply is restored.

District secretary of CPI Ml Jagat Martoliya said that a sub divisional office of the power corporation should be opened in Dharchula. Blaming the local MlA of ignoring the problems of the common people Martoliya said that to restore power supplies not even a single rupee was given from the MlA fund. The power corporation SDO Neeraj Pandey assured the protesters that  the power supply would be restored by the department in next 10 days.
