Infuriated with the stringent stance of the Regional Transport Office to check violations by the Vikram tempo operators, office bearers of the Vikram Jankalyan Sewa Samiti (VJSS) met the Transport Commissioner and put forth the issue in front of him.
The Transport Commissi-oner said that issue related to the permit of Vikram tempos would be discussed in the meeting of Regional Transport Authority and certain amendments would also be made in the stage carriage permit norms.
When asked about the issue, Regional Transport Officer, Dinesh Chandra Pathoi, said that the VJSS members have been asked to submit a written proposal regarding their demands and later after a discussion, a final decision would be taken by the RTO officials.
Pathoi also stated that the ongoing checking drive against the violation of the permit norms by the Vikram operators would continue and the violators would also be penalised.
President of the VJSS, Satish Sharma alleged that in the name of the ongoing checking drive the RTO officials are treating the Vikram operators rudely while imposing a penalty of Rs 5,000 on them.
He said that after an amendment in the current stage carriage permit meant for the city buses, the same permit should be allowed for Vikram operators of the state capital.
It must be mentioned that members of the VJSS on Tuesday had gheraoed the RTO in support of their demands.
