Vidhan Sabha Winter Session likely from Nov 2

The most conducive time for holding the Winter Session of the Vidhan Sabha in Gairsain seems to be from November 2 to 9. For this session, most of the MlAs and even the Chief Minister are expected to travel to Gairsain by road, said the Vidhan Sabha deputy speaker Anusuya Prasad Maikhuri.

Talking to media persons in Dehradun on Friday, the Deputy Speaker said that he had talked to the Vidhan Sabha Speaker Govind Singh Kunjwal about the winter session of the Assembly to be held in Gairsain.

Maikhuri said, “Earlier the Assembly session was slated to be held from September 23 at Gairsain. However, as Eid ul Zuha falls on September 25, it would not be feasible for members and others who observe the festival to travel home and back to Gairsain during the session so the earlier proposed date was rejected.

Then the pitra paksha will be observed from September 28 to October 13 which will be followed by Navratri. Considering these factors, the period from November 2 to 9 appears most suitable for holding the Assembly session at Gairsain considering that at least four days are needed for presentation of the supplementary budget,” said the Deputy Speaker.

Anusuya Prasad Maikhuri further said that this time no public money will be spent on erecting temporary structure to hold the assembly session at Gairsain as it will be held in the existing structure of the polytechnic there.

Stating that Chief Minister Harish Rawat himself will travel to Gairsain by road for the session, Anusuya Prasad Maikhuri said that most members will travel by road for the session.
