Irked over delay in arrest of accused in the Haridwar gang rape cum murder, the victim’s parents have warned that they will protest outside Chief Minister’s residence if police do not arrest the culprits soon. The police could not make any breakthrough in the 12-year-old girl’s gang-rape-cum-murder case even after seven days of the incident.

The State Director General of Police BS Sidhu said that Haridwar Police will be given few more days to solve the murder case and if they fail to arrest the culprits, police officers at district level will be transferred. Sidhu further said, “To solve the gang rape case soon, I have decided to send DNA samples of around 90 suspects to the CBI lab for test and for this, I will meet the CBI Director in New Delhi on Wednesday.”

Meanwhile, large number of the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) members led by BJP Mahila Morcha district head Sanjana Sharma gheraoed the Haridwar SSP Rajiv Swaroop and demanded immediate arrest of the culprits. Sharma alleged that crimes against women are increasing in the district and police have failed to provide security to women of the district. The party will intensify its protest across the state if police fails to arrest the accused soon, she warned.
