In the absence of prompt and proper information regarding missing persons and casualties in the disaster hit areas of Uttarakhand, haggard relatives of those who undertook pilgrimage in Uttarakhand has pinned various details of the missing persons on the security gate of airport.

The relatives have been running from pillar to post in the search of their missing near and dear ones since the natural calamity hit Uttarakhand. Although the State Government has deployed police personnel along with other Government department officials and also using various modes of communication for updating relatives about the missing persons, but the relatives who arrived in Dehradun, Rishikesh and Haridwar termed it insufficient.

With an aim to know about the whereabouts of their missing relatives, dozens of next of kin of those pilgrims who took pilgrimage pinned the details of their relatives including photo and mobile numbers on the security gates of the Jolly Grant based airport.

Not only that, the relatives of the missing persons also pinned the identity along with the contact information at Government establishments including Doon Group of Hospitals. In an exclusive interaction with The Pioneer, Dev Kumar said that he has been stationed in Dehradun for the last one week and completely failed to gather any vital information about his grand-parents, who in Kedar Valley, when the natural calamity struck in Uttarakhand.

Echoing the same plight, Ashish Tilkha from Madhya Pradesh also lamented that he has no clue about the uncle and aunt who were on pilgrimage in the State. It is noteworthy that the department figures clearly highlighted that around 3500 pilgrims are still missing and the death toll is 830.
