Killing of nine people, including an army officer when terrorists mounted an audacious attack on a police station in Jammu region and commandeered a truck which they drove into an army camp where soldiers took them on has been condemned by the veteran defence forces in Dehradun.
The brazen attack that took place ahead of September 29 meeting between Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in New York on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly meet should be stopped and the India should handle terrorists attack in diplomatic manners instead of opening the frontiers.
In an exclusive interaction with The Pioneer, Brig (Retd) KG Behl said that Indian Government should not quash the bilateral talks with its counterpart on the scheduled time. "The Indian Army and para-military forces should take effective measures to strengthen security along the international boundaries," he reiterated, adding that the defence forces should immediately kill terrorists who try to cross and those who also crossed the international border.
Brig Behl stressed that the Indian Government should continue diplomatic talks with the Pakistan Government in order to keep a tab on the terrorist activities on the India soil. He also expressed his resentment over the sluggish patrolling from the Indian side along the international boundaries. He said that despite the fact that the Indian Army is now fully capable and equipped with latest weapons and communication system to resist external aggression, the Government should try to solve the matter with the help of bilateral talks and should gain the attention of international community. Echoing same feelings, BSF IG (Retd) SS
Kothiyal said that the diplomatic talks should also initiate by both countries in order to avoid the violation of the ceasefire along the line of Control. He said that India's counterpart should be aware and updated about the terrorist activities in India. "It is now globally accepted that the terrorists cross the international boundaries whenever Pakistani Army crosses the international boundaries.
IG Kothiyal said that Indian defence forces should also take stringent action against terrorists who try to cross the international boundaries and should be killed or push them back to their own country. After condemning the terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir, last day, lt Col (Retd) GS Rawat said that bilateral talks should never be stopped from the Indian side and the Indian Government should try to gain the attention of international communities in order to resolve the issue.
Apart from strengthening the vigilance along the international borders especially during at night, the Indian defence forces should immediately kill those who try to cross the international boundaries. He said that violation of ceasefire in the Jammu and Kashmir takes place in order to distort the attention of the Indian defence forces so that infiltrators should be pushed to the Indian territories. It is noteworthy that militants entered an army unit of Samba brigade, about 35 km from Jammu, and opened fire and killed one lieutenant Colonel and soldiers, before attack on Hira Nagar police station.
