Published on:

Malfunctioning of both ventilators of Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Doon women hospital here is causing problems to the patients as the hospital administration is referring serious cases to other hospitals. The ventilators are out of order from last 15 days due to which the doctors are not treating the cases of anemia and premature child birth cases.

The nursery of the hospital caters large number of patients from Dehradun, large part of Garhwal division and some districts of western UP. It has 20 beds and is equipped with two ventilators.  The nursery serves about 200 premature and severely ill infants every month. With both ventilators going out of order the patients are facing problems.

The Chief Medical Superintendent (CMS) of the hospital Dr Meenakshi Joshi said that the ventilators need repair and due to lack of budget the hospital administration is unable to correct the problem.
