Vegetable prices come crashing down: CM

Published on:

Chief Minister Harish Rawat said that the prices of the vegetables came crashing down, post demonetisation drive, the incomes of the farmers have plummeted down by alarming 40-42 percent.

While talking to the media person at Bijapur on Saturday, the CM said he had initially hoped that things would look up after a week. But the reality is that things are turning grimmer day by day.

The CM also dwelt on the adverse impact the move has left on the Char Dham Yatra. The state government had expected the footfalls of one or two lakh more pilgrims prior to the conclusion of the yatra.

The State’s economy would take the hit if the number of pilgrims dwindles, CM said. He also said that those who are criticizing the Centre are being dubbed as anti-nationals and patrons of black money. This is an unfortunate trend, he said. He also took a dig at the Centre for inconveniencing the people by releasing 2000 rupee currencies. “This is expected to take the nation above as an aircraft does. But what is happening is that the Indian economy is nose diving into a pit,” he said.
