There is good news for artists and art lovers of the Doon valley-- Musee, the valley’s first art café, will open on the evening of June 15. This café aims to create   an inclusive community that celebrates art in its entirety.  It welcomes all forms of art and artists to create an inspired world of infinite possibilities.

Contemporary and mainstream artists as well as aspiring and regional artists/artisans will be associated with this project as this café will provide them with a platform to display their work.

The creator of this project is Kanishk Chaudhry who describes the café as “the melting pot of different strands of artistic accomplishment”.  “We envision that our growing linkages with national/regional art galleries will enable us to display the art work created individually or jointly by these three different segments within the art fraternity, on a no profit basis,” he said while talking to The Pioneer.

Musee is all set to celebrate art, in all its forms and entirely. It is a much needed   platform to converge all forms of art and artistic endeavours to bring out the beauty of human creativity. At Musee, art will be exhibited, discussed, understood and propagated to make positive transformation in the society.Chaudhry says Musee values the spirit of critical thinking, creativity, inclusion and expression. “At the core, our aim is to provide pleasant experiences to our patrons of both tangible and intangible elements of life. We believe our creative and inclusive approach shall create opportunities for individuals and communities to discover new horizons in art and society, by thinking differently, together.”The team of three (Vaibhav, Prateek and Kanishk) yearned to get back to their roots–Dehradun, to create a space where art and creativity would become the way of life, helping people to transcend the mundane aspects of life. Musee is a sincere expression of valuing and celebrating the most basic and invaluable characteristic of humanity – creativity.

Chaudhry says that they chose art as it also encourages one to cherish intuition, uncertainty, and creativity and to search constantly for new ideas.“At Musée, we strive to reignite artistic fervour among the masses of this beautiful city and beyond.

It is an endeavour to create an inspiring, tangible and a deeper connection between the creators and the consumers of art,” he said. The informal setting of the Musee café will facilitate friendly interactions between people and artists and also among co-artists to bridge the existing gaps in the art industry,

while  making an  attempt of driving art out from the aristocratic prisms and into daily lives.

Apart from visual arts like paintings, drawings, illustrations, sculptures and photography, this café will propagate applied arts like design, pottery, architecture, fashion design, wood crafts; and performing arts like dance, music, film, drama and stand up comedies.
