The examination would start on March 10 will end on April 1. Secretary of UVSP, DR Mathela told The Pioneer that the evaluation process of the answer sheets would take place in the month of April and May while the results would be declared in the last week of May. He informed that 1,304 examination centres would be created in the 13 districts of the State for the Board examination. The board has earmarked 252 examination centres as sensitive and 34 centres as ultra sensitive based on the past history and reports of the district administration. Mathela said that 1.73 lakh students would appear in the class X examination while 1.45 lakh students are enrolled for class XII examination of Uttarakhand board.

He said that about 2000 less students have enrolled themselves for the class X examination this year than last year but added that the number of students enrolling themselves for class XII examination has increased by about 5000. When asked for fewer enrollments for class X examination Mathela said that marginal reduction has occurred in the number of private students this year which is not a cause of worry.  He said that the UVSP is fully geared up for conducting a free and fair board examination and strict action would be taken against those involved in the malpractices in these examinations.

The board secretary said that mobile flying squads would stop malpractices like copying in the board examination.Apart from reducing student strength the declining pass percentage in the state board examination is also a big cause of worry for the education department. It is worth mentioning here that in last year class X examination the pass percentage of girls was 73.66 while the boys could muster a pass percentage of only 61.53. In the class XII the girls had a pass percentage of 77.67 against 61.53 percent of boys.
