The supporters of the dissident Congress MlAs took out a ‘Swabhiman Yatra’ under the banner of Uttarakhand Vikas Manch (UVM) in favour of Harak Singh Rawat and ex-CM Vijay Bahuguna here in Haridwar on Sunday.
The supporters were shouting slogans claiming that their MlAs had dared to raise voice against the corruption thriving during Harish Rawat’s regime, and brought relief for the people of Uttarakhand because they were fed up with the day-to-day corruption. As the State Government was patronising illegal mining and liquor mafia so these MlAs sacrificed their membership of Vidhan Sabha and staged protest against the corruption. By doing this they have really made people of Uttarakhand proud.
UVM State head Sanjay Chopra said that they took out march upto Har Ki Pauri on Sunday but they will also organise such yatra in these MlAs assembly constituencies by April 23. He said, “Daring leader Harak Singh Rawat sacrificed his ministerial berth to save Uttarakhand from corruption and with this he along with eight other MlAs put lid on the future of Ex-CM Harish Rawat. Harak and Bahuguna have maintained the pride of Uttarakhand’s people, said Chopra. He reiterated that Harish Rawat, his “blind supporter” and Uttarakhand PCC President Kishore Upahdhyay can’t fool the people any more because people are feeling safe after removal of Harish Rawat Government. There was also major difference between Rawat’s statements and acts as seen in cases wherein he made commitment but he did not fulfill it, he said.
They said that ‘Swabhiman yatra’ would not only be in support of nine Congress dissident MlAs but also inform the people about the corruption which was being patronised by Harish Rawat Government. “Even we would also educate about how Harish Rawat’s coterie was deeply involved in the corruption. Since toppling of Rawat Government, he and Upadhyay have been making allegation against the nine dissident MlAs though it is known to everyone that being the CM of Uttarakhand Harish Rawat was giving assurance to the middlemen that he would close his eyes as minister siphon-off `25-30 crore,” said Chopra. He demanded that the CD, in which Rawat was discussing a deal with middlemen on behalf of dissident MlAs, should be investigated by CBI. Now a delegation of UVM will meet president in Delhi shortly to reiterate the demand of CBI enquiry.
