Uttarakhand will soon become 'BJP-mukt' State, claims Kishore Upadhyay

The Uttarakand Pradesh Congress Committee president Kishore Upadhyay has thanked the Congress party central leadership following the announcement of the party’s Election Manifesto Committee (EMC) and Pradesh Election Committee (PEC). Some names left out of the list due to error will soon be included and the amended list will be released soon, said Upadhyay while also thanking the Congress central leadership for authorising the Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress Committee to include names in these lists at the local level.

Addressing the media at the Congress Bhawan here on Sunday, the PCC chief informed that the party’s Satat Vikas Sankalp Yatra series in the Kumaon region is slated to conclude onDecember 7 at Kashipur. He said, “A large public meet will be held at Kashipur on the occasion which former union minister Kapil Sibal is also slated to attend. The former union minister will also be felicitated on the occasion for the manner in which he came out to protect democracy and made an important contribution to the party by strongly advocating in favour of  the stand of the Congress-led State Government in the court of law during the imposition of president’s rule in the state by the Bharatiya Janata Party-led Union Government,” said Upadhyay. He further averred that considering the large number of people turning out to attend the Satat Vikas Sankalp Yatra of the Congress in Uttarakhand, it was evident that the people had made their decision and that the Congress will secure a majority and get re-elected to form the government in the state. On the other hand, he alleged that the Parivartan Yatra being conducted by the main opposition party Bharatiya Janata Party in the state is turning out to be a “flop show” and a sign of Uttarakhand going towards becoming a “BJP-Mukt” state. He further said, “The formation of smaller administrative units was an important part of the party’s election manifesto regarding which I have written to the chief minister Harish Rawat requesting him to take the necessary action soon. Reacting proactively to the demand raised by the party organisation the state government will soon initiate procedure towards the creation of smaller administrative units,”he added. The PCC chief once again criticised the centre for the imposition of prime minister’s demonetisation decision without proper preparation which is causing considerable problems for the public.

Referring to the recently formed EMC and PEC of the party in Uttarakhand, Upadhyay said that the committees will soon start working on their agenda. The EMC will hold district level meetings, respecting the public sentiment, and then prepare the party’s election manifesto for the Vidhan Sabha election of 2017 in a manner which will be the first example of its kind in the nation, he averred.
