Annoyed with the tardiness involving development work, Garhwal Commissioner CS Napalchayal directed regional officer, district magistrate and chief development officer to ensure that funds meant for development are utilised by March-end at any cost. He gave the direction while monitoring the district plan, state sector plan, external- aided plan, centre-aided plan and 20-point programme at the regional meeting at regional headquarters Pauri.
Napalchayal stressed that the amount still unspent in several departments is big. This should be utilised in the development works in due course of time. To achieve this, coordination among different departments is essential. The DM, CDO and regional officers of the concerned department should lead things.
Commissioner Napalchayal vented anger over Jal Sansthan not acting fast and leaving funds unspent. He asked the departments to work with a constructive approach to speed development. Mutual coordination is an imperative for the successful implementation of the development projects. He instructed DM, CDO and others to make monthly meetings mandatory, so that the plan picture could be prepared in advance, added Napalchayal.
Garhwal Commissioner expressed dissatisfaction over the slackness involving the works being done by Public Works Department. He asked them to use the unspent funds in construction. He also directed Jal Nigam officers to complete the pending works on a war-footing after he monitored water corporation works. Napalchayal instructed Jal Nigam officers to inspect different drinking water schemes of the district personally so that the status of the schemes could be known and the work could progress.
