The Uttarakhand Space Application Centre (USA) has started its weather forecast facility on its website www.u-sac.in on an experimental basis.
The centre has issued an alert for Bageshwar district which is forecasted up to 100-120 mm rain on Sunday. Pithoragarh, Didihat and Khatima are forecast to receive between 50 mm and 70 mm rainfalls on Sunday. According to USAC director MM Kimothi, the forecast was prepared on the basis of data from Meteorological Oceanographic satellite date archival centre (MOSDAC). “Our purpose is not to compete with meteorological centre or anyone else but simply to see the weather information is provided on time or not so that it can be put to intended user, he clarified.
