People in disaster-affected areas, where poor electricity supply has only worsened the services of the crippling communication network, may now be able to get their mobile phones charged with alternative sources of energy.
The Uttarakhand Renewable Energy Development Agency (UREDA) is going to equip many such disaster ravaged villages of the Himalayan State with 100 solar mobile chargers.
This is a kind of community service that the UREDA is going to provide. With the help of even a single solar mobile charger as many as 10 mobile phones can be charged at a time. Thus, as the officials concerned of the UREDA informed, one solar mobile charger will be enough for helping the people of a village to keep their mobile phone charged.
“In view of the poor power supply in disaster-affected areas of the Hill State, we have decided to equip calamity-hit villages where there is no power supply, with solar mobile chargers so that people living in these villages could charge their mobile phones,” said PC Sanwal, Statics Officer, UREDA, while talking to The Pioneer.
“We are planning to distribute as many as 100 solar mobile chargers in disaster-affected districts of Uttarakhand,” he added.
It is to note that poor communication network has so far badly hampered the relief operations in many parts of the State. The matter of concerns is that on account of poor communication network coupled with equally disturbing road conditions, the actual number of stranded persons has not yet been found in many disaster-hit places in Uttarakhand.
However, it is worth mention here that equipping the power less villages in remote areas of Uttarakhand by the UREDA, with solar mobile chargers may go a long way in boosting the communication network even in these remote villages in the long run in the Hill State.
The matter of fact is that there are still many villages in Uttarakhand where there is no electricity. And with poor source of energy, people of these places have so far not been able to avail the modern communication services, despite availability of network of many mobile service providers.
But, hopefully, the solar mobile chargers may enable these villagers to switch over to the state-of-the-art mobile service from their traditional way of correspondence soon.
