The State Government has exhibited blatant corruption by allocating land in Nanisar to the Jindal group for establishing an international residential school. The Uttarakhand Parivartan Party (UPP) along with other political and non-political groups will continue the protest against this with a march to Nanisar being planned by the party and other organisations on the anniversary of Jallianwala Bagh massacre on April 13.
The UPP chief PC Tiwari said this while addressing the media after ending a 24-hour protest fast under the banner of Nanisar Bachao-Uttarakhand Bachao Sangharsh Samiti on Monday.
He said, “The State Government is perpetuating the culture of goondaism aimed at providing ulterior monetary gains to various bodies at the cost of public interest. The water, forests and land of the State are being controlled by criminal syndicates while the Government continues to follow its anti-public policies. The Nanisar case is just one example of corruption in the State where there are various examples of State Government acting against the interests of the public. We will not relent in our struggle against such corruption and harassment of villagers who have been booked on fabricated charges for protesting against the Nanisar land allocation. We are also considering the option of approaching the Supreme Court to seek justice,” he stressed.
Bhargav Chandola and many others formally joined the UPP with Chandola being made the party’s spokesman.
