In support of their three point demands the employees of Uttarakhand Purva Sainik Kalyan Nigan limited (UPNl) held a massive demonstration in front of State Secretariat here on Monday. The UPNl employees from all parts of State gathered at the old Raipur bus stand under the banner of UPNl employees Federation.

Addressing the agitators the BJP MlA from Mussoorie Ganesh Joshi assured his party’s full support to the cause of UPNl employees. He charged the State Government for being insensitive to the plight of common people and advised the agitators to remain united for their cause. The State president of federation Bhavesh Jagudi said that the State Government gave assurance to UPNl employees in the State Assembly session on February 11 this year that the Government would make provision to adjust them as contractual workers or daily wage employees in the departments they are working and no UPNl employee would be terminated from service. Jaguri said that despite Government’s assurance the large number of UPNl employee are being terminated from their services. He threatened that more than 23,000 UPNl employees would go on an indefinite strike if the terminated employees are not reinstated and the government do not accepts their demand for adjustment as contractual workers.

The agitated members of federation later held a torch rally from Parade ground to State Secretariat.
