The association of contractual workers of Uttarakhand Purva Sainik Kalyan Nigam limited (UPNl) has expressed shock and resentment over the manner in which the influential people of Uttarakhand Technical University (UTU) used the forum of UPNl to get their close relatives positioned in plum posts against all established norms. The Pioneer in its edition of July 16 had exposed how the appointments of daughter and spouses of top university officials were made in positions of System Manager and Research Officer.
The State president of the association of contractual workers, Bhavesh Jaguri told The Pioneer that it is shocking how the system was manipulated in these appointments. “More than 9,000 UPNl workers are working on a paltry salary of Rs 6,400 per month and these University officials adjusted their close relatives on monthly salaries of Rs 47,000. We demand an inquiry on the issue,’’ he said.
Jaguri added that such
blatant cases of favouritism malign the image of normal employees of UPNl as common public perception is that all of us have managed to get the job by use of unscrupulous means.
It is worth mentioning here that the UPNl sponsored Divya Juyal, who is wife of Registrar of the UTU, Vijay Juyal within a day of later sending a request to it for appointing Research Officer in UTU on a monthly salary of Rs 47,000 per month.
An effort to hide the identity of Diya was also made as she was shown daughter of Hridayesh Kumar in the sponsorship letter. Similarly Juyal in his capacity as Registrar of HNB Garhwal Medical University requested UPNl to sponsor candidates on the positions of System Manager and Research Officer on salaries of Rs 40,000 per month.
An obliging UPNl sponsored Pooja Garg, daughter of Vice Chancellor, PK Garg on the position of System Manager. Shockingly the qualification for Research Officer was kept graduate only so as to adjust a 42 year old housewife Kameslh Negi who happened to be the wife of Deputy Registrar of UTU, Satya Prakash Rawat.
Earlier the UTU had also appointed one Arun Kumar on the position of Assistant Controller Examination through the agency of UPNl bypassing all established norms. The experts are intrigued at fact that appointments of favorites were made on such important positions are made through agency of UPNl.
