UPNl association terms pay hike paltry

Terming the increment of Rs 1500 in salary as peanuts, the association of Uttarakhand Purva Sainik Kalyan Nigam limited (UPNl) has said that the government should accept the demand of the setting up a minimum salary for them. The Patron of the association, Bhavesh Jaguri said that the state government should constitute the set of rules and regulations for the UPNl workers. He said that the association wants that the Government should follow the order of Supreme Court (SC) on Same pay for Same work. “If the Government finds the same work same pay concept difficult to implement than it should set up a minimum salary of Rs 15000 for unskilled, Rs 18000 for semi skilled andUPNl association terms pay hike paltry Rs 21000  for skilled workers,’’ Jaguri said.

The increment of Rs 1500 only has agitated UPNl workers to the extent that many of them of them are threatening to teach BJP a lesson.

“The Congress party did not accept our demands and kept on fooling us and they had to pay the price in the last year’s assembly elections. Now the BJP should understand that similar fate awaits them if they too ignore our demands,’’ said an agitated UPNl worker.

To decide their future strategy, the association of UPNl workers has convened a meeting of its executive body.

In a decision aimed at pleasing more than 21000 UPNl workers, the State cabinet on Thursday increased the salaries of all workers by Rs  1500 per month. UPNl is an outsourcing agency which employees contractual workers in different departments.

There are UPNl 18371 workers deployed in state government departments and corporations while 2677 workers are working in different departments of union Government in Uttarakhand.
