The management of the University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES) has donated a set of 400 ‘student tables and chairs’ for the government colleges of Uttarakhand. The consignment was handed over to the Minister of State for Higher Education Dhan Singh Rawat by the university officials during the minister’s visit of the university on Wednesday. Acknowledging the gesture, the minister appreciated the university’s contribution and praised the furniture for its quality. He also provided a list of the degree colleges earmarked by him where the furniture would be delivered. The minister further requested the university to help in transporting the furniture directly to the selected government colleges.
On learning that a free residential coaching camp ‘ABHIlASHA 2018’ for the meritorious students of Uttarakhand Board is being organised annually by UPES at its Kandoli campus, Rawat visited the camp and hailed the efforts of the university. Earlier on his arrival in the UPES campus, the Minister was welcomed by chancellor S J Chopra, chancellor and director Arun Dhand. President Sharad Mehra and vice- chancellor Deependra Jha were also present on the occasion.
