On grounds of financial irregularities in power distribution division, Roorkee, Uttarakhand Power Corporation limited (UPCl) Managing Director SS Yadav has suspended Executive Engineer MC Gupta. Gupta has been asked for an explanation with direction to submit the report within 15 days. He has been attached to Chief Executive Engineer office, Kumaon division, Haldwani. Gupta was accused of financial irregularities in 37 cases in the year 2011-12 when he was deputed as Executive Engineer, power distribution division, Roorkee (rural).
UPCl had constituted a departmental inquiry committee to investigate into the case. The committee found him guilty in 13 cases, partially involved in 17 cases and found not guilty in seven cases. Earlier, Gupta was deputed as power distribution division (Rural), Dehradun. Based on report submitted by the departmental inquiry committee he was served suspension orders. He was found guilty of not following department’s tender process. It was found that Gupta had purchased department materials at high rate.
He was also found to have not maintained quality while purchasing the items. Meanwhile, Gupta has alleged that he is being framed as he had approached the court on the issue of departmental promotion.
