UPCl passes bucks on outages in Dalanwala

Published on:

Residents of Dalanwala reeled under protracted power cuts dragging for hours since the morning till the evening for three consecutive days since Monday. When approached, Uttarakhand Power Corporation limited (UPCl) officials ascribed it to some essential works like replacing the old wire and fixing some faults in the supply line being done. However, they failed to explain why they had not cared to make an announcement prior to the start of the work. “Had they cared to inform us beforehand  through the media or through announcement over the loudhailers in the area we could have made arrangements. This is what we can expect in the least. Essential works must be done, but they must take care of the consumers too,” said Anita, a laxmi Road resident. Another senior citizen living in the MDDA Chowk echoed the same, saying that with the pump remaining idle due to the prolonged power cuts, he had to go without a bath for three days. “We were not informed. As the pump did not work there was no water left in the tank,” he said. Another elderly resident of the same area said that though there was no shortage of water he had to go without bath for the three days as the geyser did not work,” he said.

An UPCl official, however, assured on Wednesday evening that as the works were being done on a war footing things would hopefully be completed by Wednesday evening.
