UPCC prez condemns BJP legislators' 'unruly behaviour'

Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress Committee president Kishore Upadhyaya condemned the BJP legislators’ unruly behaviour inside and outside the Vidhan Sabha at Gairsain, saying  that they had trampled  upon the mounting aspirations of the  people of  Gairsain.

Rubbishing the BJP’s charges  made  before the Governor on Wednesday  that the  ruling party had kept goons  ready  for action at the  Visitors’ Gallery inside the House to teach BJP MlAs lessons, he said, these were far from the reality. “They were  ordinary Congress workers. We would  send  a  probe  team to ascertain what transpired there and after  the report is submitted, we would meet the   Governor,” he said.

Meanwhile, a Congress  delegation will meet the Governor at Rajbhawan on Friday to  counter the  BJP move.

He  further said  the Speaker  is the  right person to  approach to ascertain the reality as  he is authorized to issue the passes for the Visitors’ Gallery.  “He would  clear things,” he said.

Tearing more  into BJP, he said the Opposition party MlAs had misbehaved with  the local people, including the public representatives like Gairsain block president Sumati Bisht, outside the Vidhan Sabha. “Calling  the common people  present there goons reveals their true colour. They must seek   apology. They did  not spare even the women who are in  the forefront of  all the public movements, including the  one for  statehood,” the State Congress  chief said.

Branding the BJP move to demand  debate  under section 310 as wrong, he said they should have opted for   section 105 instead. “Section 87 also could have proved appropriate too. But their intention was to milk the issue politically. However, such moves  would be counter-productive as the people are readying themselves to make it bite the dust,” the Congress leader said.
