The two-day meet of the Communist Party of India (Marxist leninist) State committee began in lalkuan with party members blaming the UPA Government for taking the nation into dire straits with its policies aimed at appeasing the United States of America and the corporate sector.
Inaugurating the meeting, the CPI (Ml) State secretary Rajendra Pratholi said that the skewed policies of the UPA had encouraged widespread corruption and consistent rise in the price of essential commodities which had made life very tough for the public. “The people of the State are not in the mood to tolerate the continuation of this party led by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. Capitalising on the follies of the corrupt UPA, Narendra Modi is aggressively presenting himself as an option to the corrupt Government. However, the real is not Modi but it the struggles of the public across the nation,” he said.
Pratholi lambasted the Vijay Bahuguna Government in Uttarakhand of failing to effectively face the major disaster experienced in June. Though more than three months have passed since disaster struck, the State government has failed to provide a definite plan for the relief and rehabilitation measures to be taken in disaster affected villages which are still awaiting the resumption of some measure of normalcy, said the CPI (Ml) State secretary.
He further informed that during the two-day meet of the party’s State committee, the members will chalk out the outline for movement against the UPA government at the Centre and the Congress-led government in the State. A concrete plan will also be drafted to strengthen the position of the party in Uttarakhand. The direction to be taken by the party in the coming Panchayat elections in Uttarakhand will also be decided in the meeting. CPI (Ml) central committee member Raja Bahuguna, State committee members Purushottam, Kailash Pandey, KK Bora, Jagat Martoliya and others were also present.
