UPA Govt sat on disaster relief funds, alleges BJP

Amid heightened war of words among different political parties towards the  fag end of the general elections 2014,  the  BJP has accused the Congress led UPA Government of not releasing any money out of Rs800 crore it had announced for carrying out relief and rehabilitation works post disaster in Uttarakhand, assuring the people of the mountainous State to carry out the disaster management  process the way the Gujarat Government carried out it in disaster hit parts of Gujarat about a decade ago.

During the past 10 months the Congress led State Government did nothing to heal the wounds of the disaster victims. “The Congress led Central Government announced to grant an aid of Rs800 crore for the trouble-torn State. But it has not yet released any money out of this amount,” alleged BJP general secretary Anant Kumar who visited the Nainital-Udhamsingh Nagar lok Sabha seat on Thursday to see party's wining prospects here. “But we would like to assure the people of Uttarakhand that if the BJP is voted to power it would carry out the disaster management related works the way the Gujarat Government carried out in a speedy manner in Gujarat about a decade ago,” he added. The matter of concern is that instead of extending a helping hand to the needy, the Congress led State Government indulged in corruption.More so, carelessness and failure on part of this Congress-led  State Government only added to the woes of the people of this Himalayan State, Kumar alleged.

So, only through good governance and development, we can expect development of States like Uttarakhand. Therefore we appeal to the people to extend their support to the BJP in the upcoming elections to be held in Uttarakahnd on May 7, he added. It is to note that it seems the BJP is expecting a repetition of popular verdict of 200 plus seat that the northern India gave post emergency in 1977, has diverted its attention upwards concentrating on improving its victory margin in the last eighth and ninth phase of polling to be held in Uttarakhand, UP and Bihar on May 7 and 12.

There is a pan India wave in favour of the BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi. Increase of about 12 per cent in polling held so far only suggests that people of this country want a change and that too under a new leadership of Narendra Modi, he added.Describing the Congress party as the deserter of the battle field, Kumar allegedly said that the Congress party 's winning tally would reach only two digit mark in these elections.
