UP leads the State wise table of passing out contingent with 63 cadets

With 383 Gentlemen Cadets (GC) slated to pass out from the portals of the famed Indian Military Academy (IMA) as officers on Saturday; Uttar Pradesh (UP) leads the State wise table of passing out contingent with 63 cadets. Apart from UP the geographically small States of Haryana and Uttarakhand continue to supply a large number of dedicated young officers to serve the nation. In the Passing out contingent of 142 regular and 125 Technical Graduate (TG) course, 49 cadets belong to Haryana while Uttarakhand’s contribution would be 33. The number of cadets from Bihar in this POP would be 35 while Punjab would have a contribution of 29 GCs.  The Maharashtra and Himachal Pradesh would have 22 cadets each in the passing out contingent.

The non inclination of the people of Gujarat in serving in the armed forces is clearly evident this time also as only one GC is from this State. Another big State Andhra Pradesh also fares poorly in the list with only three GCs.

The list also shows that the youths of Telengana are also not much interested to serve the armed forces as only four GCs from here would be part of the passing out contingent. The States of Chhattisgarh and J’khand which were created along with U’khand in the year 2000 also has less representation with only one and eight GCs this time. It is worth mentioning here that both these States are much bigger in area and population than Uttarakhand.
