Highly infuriated over the callous approach of the State Government for not fulfilling the year long pending demands of staff nurses, Uttarakhand Nurses Services Association (UNSA) has decided to boycott the medical and health service from next week onwards.

However, a delegation of UNSA met State Health Minister Surendra Singh Negi on Saturday evening. After having bilateral talks with the Minister, the delegation has decided to postpone their Statewide agitation upto January 8 and also threatened to kick off their agitation once again, if their demands are not met by the State Government in the given time frame.

While speaking to The Pioneer, Krishna Rawat, State General Secretary, UNSA said that State Health Minister has agreed to sanction risk and other allowances to the association members.

She cleared that the members will again start Statewide agitation if their demands are not met by the State Government till January 8 and decided to work one shift duty as per the norms of MCI (Medical Council of India) which clearly highlighted that one staff nurse should cater the medical need of every five admitted patients in the hospital. Pushpa Singh, l Puneetha, Indu, Ram Kumar, Subhashni, Rekha Bisht etc. were the part of delegation.
