Giving a big reprieve to the State Higher Education department the Garhwal University Teachers Association (GUTA) has suspended its proposed work boycott from Friday.
The work boycott call had put the department in fix as examinations of HNB Garhwal Central University and Sri Dev Suman Uttarakhand University are being held these days.
The office bearers of GUTA held a meeting at DAV College here and decided to suspend their agitation. The president of the association SK Tygai said that the decision to suspend work boycott call was taken unanimously.
The association was up in arms against the new academic calendar that sought to curtail summer vacations by 10 days.
The Higher Education department under pressure from the teacher organisations decided to suspend the implementation of new calendar. This prompted GUTA to take back their agitation though belatedly.
